    Default How "Bout This...

Counties have 24 hours after the polls close (7pm local) to gather votes. Any votes after do not count.

Counties have 48 hours after polls close to submit a final vote count.

Not federally enforceable but what do I know.

I have ideas about term limits too.

Election laws should be uniform, nationwide.

Polls close when the last person in line votes.

Electronic & paper ballots. You fill out a paper ballot, then punch in those selections in an electronic machine. Unless the paper & electronic numbers are equal. Something is going on.

AND make election day a holiday.

It is not possible to count all the ballots that quickly. Even here in CO they start 15 days before the election and won't be finished for another week.

It IS possible to count the ballots that quickly. That's kind of the point of automation and scanning readers.

Not when every vote needs to be verified by a person first.

That's not counting, that's auditing and verification. Big difference.

Here's a crazy idea. Audit the voter before the vote is cast. Eligible voter = 1 verifiable vote.

The vote has to be determined valid before it gets counted. Once it is counted there is no way to remove it.

That is done, at least here in CO. Most votes in CO are by mail. They verify the signature before removing ballot and adding it to pile to be counted.

Signature verification is laughable. I can't even sign my name the same 20 times on a mortgage note. The only verification is that it looks reasonable.

Verification should require a secure ID only issued to verified citizens. Said ID needs to be presented at a polling place to recieve a ballot to fill out. Polling locations should be open for 1 week, 24/7.

Overseas military & family would cast vote in person at thier assigned base. Citizens outside the country would do the same at an embassy. These could be filled out on a pc and printed. Tabulated on-site and submitted to the sos of each state. Paper copies shipped for verification/audit.

No more mail in voting, no more absentee voting. If you can't vote in person, you don't vote. Some locations could be open for in person voting 30 days before poll closing. No excuses to not vote in person, even in a pandemic.

And no results announced until the last poll in HI or AK is closed.

I couldn't have said it any better with regard to mail-in voting.
