looking to reduce a 28" down to 18.5"--anyone know a front range shop that does this (hopefully for a reasonable price)? This isn't an heirloom, obviously, but i'm not looking for cousin Cletus and his hacksaw, either.

Padded vice, carefully measure and scribe cut lines. Fine tooth hacksaw or chop saw. Hand file saw marks and radius muzzle. A dab of lead or solder to fill in the gap between the barrels. Front sight beads are a press fit into a tapered hole. A hollow punch that seats on the bead edge will work.
I'm not Randy Weaver your not the FBI?
I like sex, drugs and automatic weapons. That's why i'm a dues paying member of the Libertarian party. Struggling to keep the government away from messing with the above.
My Wife has her own vice.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
I've thought about trying it myself--may well go that way
I’ve got a cordless sawzall, a metal cutting blade and a freshly charged battery....... Just sayin......
My T.P. wheeling and dealing feedback is here.

Earplug nailed it. I've done it a couple times and it worked out fine. I would use a lower temp solder and use something to heat sink the barrel, as you don't want to desolder what's already there. Maybe that's not necessary, but I don't know for sure what they stuck the barrels and rib together with originally. If you're worried about squaring it up, cut it a little long to give yourself a little wiggle room. Stuff a little piece of steel wool or something into the void to keep the solder from running down. Hacksaw with a fine blade, or a vertical bandsaw if you have one.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker.
It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his own actions.
