My brothers and I recently found out that we own the mineral rights on aprox. 30 acres of land in Western Oklahoma, had no idea that we did. Near as we can tell, our great-grandfather was one of the settlers in one of the land rushes back in the 1800's, and this is some of the land that he nabbed.

Only reason we found out is because some oil company contacted us about leasing the exploration rights on some of the acres. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe they'll find oil and we'll make a buck or two!

Too bad we don't own the surface land too, it's in excellent deer & quail hunting country.

Is is a good area for gold? I wonder if you'd be allowed to prospect. (sluice, dredge, metal detect, pan, and use a dry wash)

That land in my family has stuff for both oil and uranium on it.

Um, western Oklahoma ain't known for producing gold. I seriously doubt there's ever been ANY found there. Oil, gas, wheat, and cattle is about it.
