I was up on a hill near Fitzmorris Park, which is near 66th and Independance. I'm not seeing anything in the news, and friends working in the PD on shift right now haven't heard anything. It was some of the largest explosions I've ever heard, but you could tell it was far away. I don't know, I guess it was nothing. I feel like Chicken Little at the moment. I wasn't the only one who heard them, but it appears to be nothing. If those were simple fireworks, I'm impressed and people any closer couldn't have been very happy. Sorry for the false news I guess.

Ha! Probably just some kids having fun. I grew up on 64th and Independence and went to Fitzmorris Elementary adjacent to the park. We regularly blew off M-80s, Cherry Bombs and Black Cats in our yards and the street. Later, black powder land mines and rockets. Thinking back I'm amazed by the tolerance of our good neighbors.

And right there in our suburban neighborhood we shot our .22 rifles our backyards and in our basements. Nobody got hurt, nobody complained, and nobody went to jail. It was all part of growing up in the 1960's.
