Default Anybody buid their own bbq smoker?

I don't have the funds to just go out and buy one of those high dollar smokers and was thinking about building something like this

    has anyone tried it?

I built one at my uncles about 3 years ago. When it was all said and done it would have been cheaper to buy instead of build. We went a little over the top though.

Till you bump it, then it's 60-70 down the toilet.

If I was an apartment dweller I would consider it.

true, but it's just one piece though right. Replacing a terracotta pot isn't that expensive

The "bullet" type smokers are only $50 or so. $75 for electric.

I don't see how making one would be that much cheaper unless you are looking to go all out on something fancy. My POS half rusted out electric unit has served me well for years.

I know it's electric, but It is nice just to set the temp and not have to worry about it. It smokes just as well as a traditional smoker.

You sir, are a specialist in the art of discovering a welcoming outcome of a particular situation....not a mechanic.
