It seems like if everyone is a "RINO" maybe we need to reflect on what we think a republican is. Neither party resembles the ones of my youth. Perhaps we should stop trying to put +300 million Americans into a "one or the other". Us vs them, 51% vs 49% is stupid and tearing the country apart. The 2 party system does not work. This country didn't start as a 2 party only system, it happened over time. We need to evolve the f*** out of it. We reap what we sow.

The US has been a 2 party system for almost as long as it has existed. Not always the same 2, for example the Whigs collapsed and were replaced by the GOP. We are talking 2 primary parties, there are a bunch of little 3rd parties out there but are generally insignificant. Just having more parties isnt necessarily a solution. The reason I say that is look at the parliamentary systems in Canada and England and consider the amount of deal making necessary to get a majority. Our elections would also require this to get to the 270 electoral votes. So either the smaller parties combine with a bigger one early on, or they just throw all their electoral votes to another after the election, it will ultimately still come down to a 2 party system, with a whole bunch of sleazy deal making for it to happen. There will be just as many, if not more, disgruntled people.
The system isnt perfect. But as many have said, that while not perfect, it is better than any other alternative currently known.

I disagree it is a better system. It is the oldest modern democracy and it's showing it's age. I do not believe it was designed with the ability to support +300 million people in the digital age. It clearly is dysfunctional, possibly imploding. Both sides are intractable and do not represent a vast portion of their constituents. We cannot continue to be asked to hold our nose at the ballot box. If we do not adapt we may cease to exist. I do not want that to happen. I don't want a revolution. We pride ourselves that we Americans lead the world in innovation, well why not with here?

The press is reporting 15,000 troops in DC for the inauguration. They are also advising for the public not to attend the city for the event.
