I feel like I should eat some humble pie, because after seeing Red Dawn, I'd like to see what they could do with a remake. I hope they don't screw it up too bad though, lot's of potential for that.

Just looked the new one up... Not holding my breath for it.. The director is a stunt coodinater,, And,, Conner Cruise is in it... Yes, the son of Tom..

From what I gathered,, not even useing the original script..

I see it lasting 5 minutes,, Chi-com/Soviet troops land, Everybody surrenders, is rounded up and taken to re-education camps. Where they learn the true and proper way of serveing the state....

Gee,, do I sound bitter this morning?

I still can't believe that only one person has mentioned the Band of Brothers HBO mini-series. I don't care what HBO's politics are, this is hands down the greatest movie/miniseries ever made.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, the miniseries consists of ten 1-hour long segments. Each segment is a different part of the story as the greater storyline follows E-Company of the 506th regiment of the 101st airborne from the beginning of their training to the end of WWII. The storyline is based on the letters, journals, and personal interviews of the survivors of Easy Company. Each segment has a new writer and director with Tom Hanks doing the screenplay for the whole series and directing two of the segments himself. Watching Band of Brothers is an experience like none other and if anyone in the Colorado Springs/Southern Denver area would like to borrow it from me (on DVD) send me a PM.

    Bottom Line:
If you like Saving Private Ryan, then you'll absolutely LOVE Band of Brothers.

Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?

No, but I served in the company of heroes.
