We were talking about this at work 2 weeks ago. They are filming/have filmed entirely up in Michigan. It looks like this will be a more intense movie than the original.

I guess that, instead of Russia and Cuba invading, the word is that it is Russia and China this time around. In the original movie, I really liked the part where the Russian troops were up in the mtn's and they found an arrow. One of the Russian soldiers was bs'ing his buddies and telling them that the arrow was from our Indians. The other guys called him on that and pointed out that the "feathers" were made of plastic. I thought that that scene helped to humanize these invaders.

I really enjoyed the original but I'll definitely be seeing this new version.

Could never figure out why hollyweird feel the need to mess with prefection.. Let's face it they have no original ideas out there.. This is akin to doing remakes of Gone with the wind or Casablanca.. Anybody remember the remake for tv of From here to Eternity from the late 70's?

Besides, I can't really find the Detroit setting plausable, Let's face it, chances are the people of Detroit would give the commies a parade rather than fight...

Great, just what we need, another shitty remake. I've never seen Red Dawn, but I'll go pick it up.

Sturtle give it a try. Have to gear you mind for early 80's to really appreciate. Three years later Swayze did Dirty Dancing go figure....

I'm not sure what the premise of the remake is. In the origional, the Russians and Cubans invaded us. This was back during the cold war and so it seemed plausible at least. Does anybody know what brings about the invasion in the remake?

Seriously Sturtle, you've never seen Red Dawn? Man, you've GOT to rent it!

I remember how the commies were able to identify and disarm private firearms owners by looking at purchase records. I remember thinking that little tidbit was amazingly pro gun for Hollywood.

The thought of the CHinese invading us isnt' plausible? I've been terrified of them for years. Tell you the truth though, they could decimate us without firing a single bullet. Our entire economy (sadly) revolves around China.
