I was 7 when Red Dawn came out, And my father took me to the movies to see it. I remember being vividly terrified at what I saw, and had nightmares about it. I guess it explains why I turned out the way i did.
I spent my Obama Stimulus money on a GUN!
Yeah, now that I think about it, you're right.
That is the real danger of off-shoring industrial capacity. I wonder if we would have the means to produce the materials necessary to fight a major war against an enemy like China. Personally, I think one of the best things we could do would be to get back to being a country with an economy based on production and manufacturing rather than a service based economy. Just my thoughts though.
I don't mean to sound pissy, but I prefer original movies, not crappy remakes. If anyone can name a single remake that was better than the original, I'm all ears, but I can't think of any at this time. The only acceptable way to steal an idea for a movie is make a movie from a book. Even the American versions of other countries movies are lame. Like all those horror movies that came out like The Grudge and The Ring. Both of those were remakes of original Japanese remakes. It's kind of sad how much money can be made off of Americans by dumbing down a film just so people don't have to read subtitles. Oh well. Anyway, there are a TON of movies that I haven't seen, and I I've caught up on a LOT of classics from recomendations online.
Some examples:
Full Metal Jacket
Apocalypse Now
Heat
Sexy Beast
Revolver
Rock n Rolla
I bolded my two favorites on there.
I recently started a thread on some other boards asking people to list their top ten animes and have watched about 8 new movies I had never previously seen before. At least 5 of them turned out to be really great. I'm going to put Red Dawn on my "Netflix que" and watch it this week.

And for the record, if I have my history correct, China has never invaded another country in its entire history, if you don't count Tibet.
In fact, for a while, I told all my friends, "Despite having the worlds largest standing army, you know why China has never invaded another country? Because they have a chink in their armor!"

I haven't seen The Patriot (and heard it sucked) AND I haven't seen Braveheart. My cousin tried to get me to watch Braveheart for years, and I had it in my possession for a few weeks, but I never got around to it. It's not that I don't want to watch it, just never got around to it.
