I'm re-reading about the events that led up to the revolutionary war. The Boston Tea Party happened in 1773, and was really a property crime with no injuries or deaths - intended to send a unmistakable message to King George III. He didn't take it well, to put it mildly. I have been wondering in the wake of Jan 6 if that event was more or less analogous to the Boston Tea Party? There were deaths (3?) and some injuries, and some property crime although a lot less than in most if no tall of the summer riots. Im not suggesting that the events leading up to 1776 are in any way parallel to today, but this one event and the aftermath seem more alike than different.
