Default Remington Model 58 Magazine cap

A friend asked me to look at an heirloom Remington 58 12 gauge. It wasn't ejecting and feeding correctly.
This took only a few seconds to see the problem. In this design the magazine cap has a dial to designate H(igh) power shells or L(ow) power shells.
The dial is missing, likely blown off when the setting was mistakenly between H and L.

Gun parts corp and Ebay has 20 gauge magazine cap assemblies, but not 12 gauge.

Can anyone recommend another place to look?

I am also cleaning it for him. He does not know how. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1963. No corrosion, just very dirty.

Glad you scored one for him. Got to keep the old guns up and running.

Very true. As soon as i get the part, i will take the gun out and shoot it to be sure it works properly.
My friend thinks that you cannot shoot Winchester shells in a Remington gun -that was part of the reason it wasn't working correctly. We shall see.
