    Black Canyon or Mile High...

    Maybe ask Trigger Time.

Trigger Time Gun Club (Longmont 119/I-25) was $150 for simple threading work, ask for Patrick for an estimate. Phoenix Weaponry (Berthoud) was also $150. They have both done good work for me including barrel threading. Although my favorite gunsmith at Phoenix is gone now, they normally have several gunsmiths on staff.

Bite the bullet, call Fritz and then drive it to Black Canyon. It is easier to find a decent Dr than it is to find a decent gunsmith. Barrels don't self heal.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

I would prefer to have a local provider, but between high prices AND long leadtimes, I have often found that shipping my barrel to Class III Machining in Dallas is the best approach. Concentricity and crown quality have been excellent - groups typically improve after a trip down to Morgan. https://www.ar15.com/forums/industry...Machining/353/

Thanks for the replys, looks like I'll be giving Fritz a call and making the journey down south. I wish mile high wasn't so expensive. Thanks again guys and gals.

Did they need to remove the action, scope or trigger to do the threading?

No need to remove the trigger and no need to pull the action.
If you don't remove the optic your an idiot.
    Ray and Zak aren't idiots.

What gyrations a 'Smith has to do to thread a barrel depends on the 'Smiths competency as a machinist.
Here is where an average schooled "Gunsmith" fails miserably. Typically the machining taught in a Smithing school is minimal and of very narrow scope.
A true machinist understands concentricity and axial alignment and will be able to set up the barrel correctly.
The set up is the real "Black Magic" when it comes to machining, the majority of machining operations are pretty simple and straight forward.
Set up will make or break you.
I can thread a barrel on a bolt action as short as 16" without pulling the barrel.
Tooling and set up is almost everything.
I will do anything I can to prevent pulling a barrel, aside from an AR platform there are damn few weapons you can pull a barrel from without adverse effect.

Sorry I couldn't get her done for you Beast
