We lived in Cheyenne when I was young in the early 1960's, a guy across the street would start a small campfire under his car engine on some of those bitter cold mornings to start it, crazy.

Some of the guys on my Isuzu forum live up in Canada and are reporting on their successes and failures with their vehicles in the -40 temps. Basically switching to 0W-40 oil to be able to start the engine, while other guys are having coolant leaks on vehicles that haven't been driven in the last week.

So, have I waited too long to blow out my sprinklers?

If you blow them out now, you'd kill the neighbor's dog.

Reminds me of a joke about swallowing bb's...

Past 13 years, I've never blown out the sprinklers except one year which I did it myself with extremely low pressure.
I do reduce the pressure and turn the warer to the sprinkler off.

    Another option for gloves.

I've used these in ND during -40F weather, and now in Prudhoe Bay when it was -52F with a windchill of -76F.

Still not great dexterity, but they do help a lot.

Living in the land of ice and snow I wear long handles from mid October to May Day. I seldom get cold.

It's been raining in the Grand Valley this evening. We'll get some snow on Sunday. I expect a good snow fall in the high country and along the Front Range.
