You're right. I was wearing thin cotton gloves under some cheapo Mechanix gloves. I'm interested in something that has some amount of dexterity for cold like this though, so please send links. Two years ago I spent $100 on gloves in the middle of elk season to try and stay warm. I've got wool gloves and synthetic mittens from OR, and neither are as warm as I'd like. The mittens are okay as long as you're moving, but they are very delicate, so kind of worthless for hunting.
