    Default Real life Hobbit hole.

Of all the Earth homes I've seen, I think I like this one the best.

I like all the firewood neatly tucked under the lip of the rim, along with their cool grill.

    They're keeping a "low" profile....

The road construction and house construction don't look American. It has the feel of European/eastern European to me.

Edited to add: Oops, just clicked the link.. Switzerland.

Interesting architecture, but the bare concrete everything looks like it'd be very cold...

I don't know... The ground insulating the home alone would keep it at a pretty level temp, low to mid 60's. If you ran hot water pipes through the concrete floors, it would stay quite toasty.

Yeah, from a plumber's perspective, that house would be an ideal candidate for geothermal heat. You're right Friday, if it has radiant tubing in the concrete, it will stay warm.

I'm curious about the cost. I have long thought that type of construction, where practical, could save a huge amount of money on heating and cooling costs. Unusual methods of construction like this are frequently cost prohibitive unfortunately.
