Exclamation An Introduction is in order

    Good Morning to all-
As a long time lurker of this forum I fianally decided to join in on the fun.
I and my wife are 3rd generation Colorado natives. (A rarity these days).
Been a gun nut my whole life, built my first rifle at the ripe old age of 14 (Sharon Trade Rifle). Built Black Powder rifles untill I was 19 when I fired my first AK.
Hooked on Black Rifles and 1911's since

Originally I went to school as a machinest and worked that trade for 7 years-More than enough time to go crazy from making the same part over and over. I moved on to become a welder and fabricator.
In 1991 I was able to land a job with the State and have been there since.
I have always been a tinkerer and have always worked on firearms. Everything from building a frontstuffer to FAL's and AK's and most every genre of firearm.
3 years ago I started looking to the retirement plan and since I work for a local FFL retailer on the weekends they asked me if I would be interested in doing some Gunsmithing work. Would I? It pans out well into the retirement plan! Well here I am 3 years later. 2 years from retirement and things are falling into place somewhat. Now I am not the guy to come to for your Perazzi shotgun to be refinished but if you have a need for practical repairs, service and customizations then I fall into that category well.
I will be the first to tell you If it is not worth fixing.
I will be the first to tell you to let the factory/warranty fix it.
I will be the first to tell you if it is beyond the scope of what I do.
I will be the first to tell you it is unsafe.
    In other words:
I will be HONEST with you.
I would much rather see you walk out of the door because I will tell you I am not the guy to build your 800 yard silhouette rifle and have you come back in to me because your AR won't cyle or 1911 stovepipes on you.
I also have something that is rare in the customer service world:
    INTEGRITY
    Licensed and insured.
    By appointment only.

Thanks and I look forward to being a member here. We need to stick together more than anything now.

    Rob

Welcome! As the son of a well known gunsmith, I'm happy to see another (younger) guy get into the trade. Good gunsmiths are a rapidly retiring breed.

    Welcome.

Honesty & Integrity! These were once cornerstones of our society but are sadly lacking these days in our society as a whole, but I think you'll find that you are in good company here.

I'm sure that your knowledge of 'smithing will be sought after here on this site. I think we've worn out the other smiths on the site.

Great site and even better people. The mods aren't nazis and are always a great help. None of them bite (that I'm aware of) but 7idl (a.k.a Chuck Norris' Left Hand) does growl a bit if you poke him with a sharp stick (not recommended).
