I always cringe when somebody says: "Well you see I tried to clean it up with a Dremel................"
God only knows what awaits me

About the only thing that sees the Dremel is the polishing on a ramp/throat and that is after I have stoned and wet polished with paper & backing.

Bad investment. Brownells is ok for for miscellaneous parts and pieces but is WAAAAY overpriced for tools. Now I know that there are some items you cant find elsewhere but it is kind of like Snap On tools. If you need that one specialty item then ok, you need it. But be a bit resourceful and look around a bit.
Example- I needed to do a barrel swap on an AR10 (Armalite). It has a proprietary barrel nut and the specific wrench for it was $80 bucks or so. I looked in a MSC Industrial catalog and purchased a pin spanner that will go from 3/4" to six inches with interchangable pins for $45.
Now I have a barrel nut wrench for any AR platform rifle.
Bench blocks- Hockey pucks work great. The one that Brownells sells for AR sight bases is great, but I got by with hockey pucks and a couple of hardwood blocks for a long time.
Be creative- You will save yourself a bunch in the end.

I agree. You can find the tools cheeper, some are not as good. This is the best kit out there, just take the list and shop around for the tool on the list.
