I am looking at getting one of these phones.

can you tell me more about the monthly cost and the "unlimited" amount they are talking about.

I currently have the LG Dare touchscreen, has internet, unlimited everything except minutes.
From reading on the web, it seems as if people are saying the cost for all the extras is out of this world.

I do like how it can tether, but not really a big necessity since I would have the phone...kinda the whole point.

I have the Dare as well, and was really excited about the newest Droid coming out.

Don't pay to tether just root it. As for cost my wife and I pay like $100 per month for a family plan (about to go up for more minutes in a couple months) and then $30 per Droid for internet and email... Unlimited everything accept for daytime airtime. Depending on who you or she works for there are corporate discounts available too that vary and can chop almost 1/4 off your monthly bill in some cases too.

So, not cheap but at the same time I have not only coverage but full 3G just about everywhere I go including a drive last week from Colorado to Nebraska by way of Wyoming back highways. I'm VERY impressed and was sick of T-Mobile's empty promises for coverage and broadband for the last 8 years. You get what you pay for and this phone is amazing!

I just ditched the iPhone - that's a long and painful story - for a Droid last weekend. Paying about $160 for 3 phones 1400 min, unlimited txt and data .. that's with a 10% corporate plan discount. Still saving about $60 a month over AT&T BS for the same three lines, txt and data. ATT can rot in hell!

When comparing an iPhone on AT&T's network to a Droid on Verizon you're getting a LOT more all around for the same price or less in most cases.

Didn't the Droid just get rooted today?

I have an iPhone. It's alright... since I got the phone for free and no longer have a contract, I won't complain.

How good is the browser? Does it pass the acid tests?

well you said unlimited, but I was reading where they said "unlimited" is truly only 5 gb of data or something like that. my Dare is truly unlimited, but the droid is not from what I have read.
I get on my phone for email daily, search all kinds of things, get on websites, on here etc.

I've never heard anything like that band I send/receive hundreds of emails per day along with tons of web browsing, Google maps, mp3 downloading and video streaming. Sounds like some users of inferior providers are trying fling some mud.
