Alright, bumpkins. Let me tell you how some city folks roll.

Some people don?t cook or eat at home. The convenience of big city living makes grabbing food on the go or going to a restaurant quicker and easier than trying to keep food at the house. If your lifestyle is such that eating at home is not a regular occurrence and suddenly you might have to go for a couple of days without being able to get to your usual eating establishments then suddenly stockpiling groceries becomes a priority.

I can?t explain the gas thing though. Not sure why the rush is on to top off your tank in anticipation of possibly not being able to drive anywhere for a couple of days. I guess that?s the same logic as running out and buying condoms knowing full well that there is probably a zero percent chance you are going to be getting laid any time soon.

I always get a kick out of the home search tv shows, where the homeseekers admit they do not cook and a kitchen is not a priority.
As for filling the gas tank before a cold spell, I always have done that to reduce moisture in the tank.
Always recommended for boat fuel tanks, and as I recall my days in shop in the 60's, that what we learned.

I always try to top off my tank in the chance I need to leave the house for an emergency of to help others. I wouldn’t know how long I’d be in the road so having a full tank is important.

That reminds me of my first trip to Africa. 30 day overland tour going from Nairobi to Johannesburg, mostly camping along the way. One gal on the tour had brought a case of condoms; I forget the total count, 100, 150? She did think to bring a clothesline -- one of those 6 ft jobbies that stretches across a shower with suction cups on both ends. I took 2 lengths (100 ft each) of paracord so she got to hang her stuff up to dry anyway (as did the others on the trip).

FWIW, I get a lot of takeout through the week but I'd still keep more than 2 days worth of food in the pantry just in case.

You didn't say how many condoms she had left at the end of the trip.

We also didn't hear how she was, as a fellow traveler, of course.
