Default No discussion on Colorado "Meatout" day yet?

Polis has declared March 20th as Colorado "Meatout" day in which he is requesting that Coloradans only eat plant based products that day.

A lot of restaurants and the state cattle industry are starting to use the hashtag #Coloradomeatin to promote the eating of meat for that day.

I can't imagine a day without meat. What a horrible thing for Polis to suggest.

    Okay, cows eat plants.
    I eat cows.
Am I not eating the byproduct of plant based food chain?

Reminds me of the latest episode of Last Man Standing.
Outdoor Man quits eating meat for a week.

Jeff Dunham is guest star. The question arises, What does Outdoor Man shoot with all those rifles he sells, Broccoli?

It isnt a holiday. It is the government trying to shame people into changing their culture and swaying the economy toward a specific political outcome. I get a chuckle that the cattlemen took up the challenge and are throwing it back on him.

Honestly I dont really care about this particular hill that Polis has staked, but I really dont care for the methods. You can say "what is the harm" and for this one I would agree, who really cares. It is the precedent it is setting, that the government is openly promoting particular lifestyles and picking winners. Lets take it to an extreme, consider if Polis announced a Gay Only Day where everyone was expected to have romantic relations with someone from their own gender. Would you participate in that? I suspect that might have much more pushback but in essence it is the same as his no-eat-meat-save-the-planet day. And yeah, I would be saying the same thing if it was a republican governor promoting some conservative political talking point made up "holiday".

+1. It's also in some ways like every-other-day half staff the flag for some reason or the other, and the senate recognition of x cause and y cause and z person, blah blah blah. Every stupid "honor" they bestow upon crap is actually sucking away from the pool of time, care, and respect that we have available, in some ways diminishing the effect that those things *should* have.

When the U.S. flag is half staff 33% of the time, people stop asking "what's going on?" and start thinking "probably some dumb statistical milestone or a retired legislators cousin died or something".

Same for all the fake holidays. Can't forget Colorado Loves California day. If we made a new legitimate holiday, nobody would notice anymore. I would be surprised if even 1% of the state celebrates any of these made up days.
