Default I want to make my own Kydex holsters, advise needed!

I know some of you gents make your own kydex (or similar) holsters. I've got the itch to give it a try.

    Questions:

    1. Best source for hardware and sheet material?
    2. Preferred material?
    3. Instructional videos or tutorials you recommend?
    4. Tips or tricks you've learned?

    Spanks in advance,

    Tim

I get my materials and supplies from knifekits.com as well.

My best hint is a small heat gun really helps with minor tweaks and adjustments. I stole mine from my wife. It?s pink and came from a local craft store.

KnifeKits is good they have all the accessories too, like the grommets, rivets, etc. Not super cheap, but good to start if you're only doing a few. I made a couple with a buddies help using his stuff. He made a hinged press with heat-resistant-foam on both side for molding the hot kydex. Blue taped the pistol and we used a toaster over and heat gun to get it soft, a band-saw to cut-away excess, wheel sander/buffer to finish. Had it for years and still works great.

A piece of closed cell foam sleeping pad like the Army used works well to mold hot Kydex around your pistol. A couple of bags/socks of lead bullets work to form fit the kydex while its hot. Preheating the pistol helps. Tape off or pad slide stops and magazine releases so the finished holster doesn't hang up on the controls.
Silicon hot pads are handy. A dremel.
