It's easy to talk about this incident from here but I'm with Hummer. The officer was more than lenient with that suspect. As well documented as this incident is, hopefully others can learn from it.

So sorry for the officer. He was polite, even defferential, probably due to her gender and race. But that mindset led him to make several serious mistakes that could have cost his life. He allowed her to talk on the phone and return to the car several times when at any point she could have retrieved the pistol and shot him. Wasn't it initially a felony stop and shouldn't she have been detained in handcuffs before searching the car and backpack? I only guess th pack search was legal because it was in the felons car. And when she resisted inside the car he pulled on her arm (instead of her head/hair which would forced off balance) as she was reaching for the gun. He should have fired as soon as he saw the gun but instead asked, "ma'am, please drop the gun".

In the end she got more respect than she deserved.

IMO his mistake, and a major pucker factor watching it, was. He let her not only approach the open door, but allowed her to enter / access the vehicle, more than once.

But as mentioned.

Thanks to the, ALL COPS ARE TRIGGER HAPPY RACIST, mantra we are bludgeoned with by sjw's, media and politicians. He went out of his way to not appear threatening, in any manner. Which will cause more incidents where cops are attacked. Sometimes with a sad outcome, for all involved.

Or was issued a non written "order" from higher up to avoid any interaction, that would be deemed racist.
I know the nypd has "unofficially" suggest leniency be given to anyone not caucasian .

Considering their in one door, out the other, with the no bail policy.
It's no wonder why cops are hesitant to handle things, w/out jeopardizing their safety.

And this is part of the price of the BLM movement. The officer gave her more leeway than he should have, probably because he didn't want to deal with a racial incident. Had he treated her like a 20-something white boy and cuffed her immediately, she would probably be alive and he wouldn't have been shot.
