That may allow you to expand your options.
I've seen them at Whistling Pines East in the past, don't know if they currently have any, but I'd call both clubs and check.

I was in Ark today, they had 3-the basic wood stock version was $299.
Cabela's in Lone Tree has them

That looks like a really good deal but I wanted to get a ruger mostly so he can tinker with it and mod it as time goes on.

if I had lots of $ to burn, I would like to get Fortner action Ruger 10/22. I think Volquartsen Summit makes one. There is another pink thick barrel online, and I hope I can get that one. I already bought Volquartsen Hogue stock for .92 barrel off of clearance about year ago.
Still no CZ Scouts at Scheels yesterday, but a whole bunch of 10/22s of assorted flavors.
Math is tough. Let's go shopping!
