Who else is old enough to remember the manufactured "scandal" where the rock band KISS published a comic book that purportedly had drops of band members blood mixed in with the ink?

Just goes to show you that "there's nothing new under the sun." Lil Nas X wasn't even a gleam in his daddy's eye when that went down in the 70's or 80's.

How much of the "brand damage" claimed by Nike is perceived damage and just noisy people with no dog in the fight just blathering on the interwebs. I would imagine nearly anyone asked wouldnt immediately associate the whole sillyshow with Nike anyway and recognize it is all reseller stunt.

I feel like if I were Nike, I'd shut the hell up, lest all the sweat shop accusations start fresh again.

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

I didn't actually know there was such thing as a Nike reseller until this came up. I saw the initial headline, saw a swoosh and thought to myself "self, how could Nike be so crazy to actually make such a thing? This can't possibly be true".

Then I discovered that Nike didn't make them and that people actually customize shoes.

I wear cowboy boots so admittedly I'm out of touch when it comes to shoe fashion...

I don't care the "nike shoes" has a Jesus' blood on it or walked on a water with it. $1000+ for a modded shoes is not a collectable for me, I and would not buy it.

I haven't bought "tennis" shoes since my 20s (a long time ago). Never understood the prices for cheap Chinese crap, let alone a resale market.

    To each his own.

They sold for over $1k/pair and sold 666 of them immediately. The Nike suit has no merit if he bought the shoes then altered them and sold them as "art." As long as he didn't use Nike's name to promote them. Think Warhol and Campbells soup. While the whole thing is laughably ridiculous. Those covid checks are being spent well!
