Default Taurus Raging Hunter .460 S&W

Anyone have any experience or own a Taurus Raging Hunter in .460 S&W? Curious to hear your opinions, likes, dislikes, etc.?

No. But I have a very negative opinion about anything from Taurus based off of personal experience.

My vote is steer clear but it is definitely a free country and you are welcome to totally ignore me.

I owned a Taurus revolver in 357 once. It had timing issues and the hammer would drop before the cylinder had finished rotating. Sent it in for repairs under their lifetime warranty. Got it back and it was doing the same thing. Sent it back again. Got it back with the same problem. Sent it in a third time for repairs and it was still having the same problem. Sent it back once again and when it came back I didn't even try it out and just traded it off. Swore off Taurus products ever since. Never had any issues like that with any S&W or Ruger revolver so I'll just pay a little more for a quality revolver.

I had a Taurus 357 revolver back in the eighties and had the same experience as ray1970. After two returns and still not fixed, I got rid of it. I currently have a Taurus compact 9mm auto that has been trouble free so far.

Just the opposite for me. I still have a Taurus .357 from ‘89 I believe, and it’s been rock solid. I tried one of their compact 9’s, and literally never got a mag through it without a jam. Didn’t try their repair shop, just sold it cheap with full disclosure.

As I type this, I remember a Taurus model 85 I bought used that had been to the repair shop by the prior owner, and it still doesn’t feel right, like the crane is bent or something. As I recall, the screw that holds the cylinder release fell out and needs replacing too. Maybe I’ll dig it out of the safe and sell it cheap too.

I bought the wife their titanium model 85 when she hiked the Colorado Trail alone (500 miles from Denver to Durango), and it’s been perfect.

Looks like a 50% good/bad ratio for me. That would be a great batting average, but an abysmal rating for a firearm manufacturer. Steer clear (unless you wanna buy a cheap snubbie that needs some love).

I've owned a couple of Taurus 454 Casull Raging Bulls and they were trouble-free.
