a cool, fancy title
That's what worries me the most. I'm starting to hear the term "kit" way too much from these anti's. I think they want us to believe they're talking about 80% kits (incomplete lower sold w/ tools, jig, etc.) but in reality I think they are going to target as many things as they can call "kits". Assembled uppers? LPKs? Complete kits minus lower?
They can't stop people from rolling their own. But they can make it more difficult for them by making as many parts as possible hard to get.
Want to print or machine your own? No problem. You won't be able to find a LPK anywhere. You'll have to order "spare parts" individually. Want to slap a new upper on an existing lower? No problem, you just won't find any commercially available complete uppers. You'll have to assemble your own from "spare parts".
Yeah, ^ this sounds super dumb and ineffective at doing anything. And that's exactly why I'm worried they might do something like this. They'll tell us it's no big deal. You can still buy ALL the parts you want to build your own. You're a true gun hobbiest and will have no trouble piecing it out from spare parts. It's only the ignorant bad guys that buy any sort of kit anyway. Bad guys won't go through the effort of assembling a gun from spare parts so it will make it harder for them to get guns. That's what they'll tell us anyway.
