I was walking by the machine that sells those propaganda flyers, and the main headline was was murders in ABQ are doubled from last year at the same time. ABQ was shit before, now it’s getting worse. But hey we got green Chile I guess. Woooooooo congrats NM your fucking economy is a condiment...

Same kinda stuff caused me to leave law enforcement almost 20 years ago. It's not new. It's just worse.
Everyone said I was crazy for quitting. Now I feel like I was just ahead of the times...a trailblazer!
And I don't regret it at all. My life was much happier after leaving law enforcement.

Every good cop I know is working on an exit strategy or at least a backup plan.
We still have the brand new cops that think they want to chase bad guys and don't understand why that's not really allowed anymore. And we still have the older lazy guys that come into the profession much like the military to get good healthcare and a good paycheck knowing there are places to hide out most of the time.
He was a handler for one of their bomb dogs. Internal politics led to a former supervisor, who had been demoted due to ethics violations, being promoted once again to a supervisory position. That supervisor then chose to act against my stepson, reassigning his dog (a loved member of his household), and sending my stepson back to jail duty. P. is now a golf pro for the City of Aurora, a job with about 75% of the income, and about 1% of the stress and bullshit.
