Minimum mags count is whatever is required to hold 50 rounds, aka box full. But after CA and ?94 BS that number is ?lifetime? for the gun. So probably 10: 3 for use, 3 for replacement, 3 for backup, and +1.
thats not a bad formula actually.
10 per, with a minimum of1k rounds

I try to get at least 9 that fit the gun. But if you have others in the same family - then this may vary. The bigger ones will fit in the smaller. And if you like the longer ones as backup when carrying then why old up on the smaller ones?
I would shoot for having 3x your normal carry/load out. This allows for replacement, use at the range, etc.

Another vote for 10x per and at least 1000 rounds of ammunition. Magazines are disposable wear items. If they can't be repaired with a new spring or base plate, and made to function as intended, they get tossed. The notion of "range mags" that only sort of function is just an accident waiting to happen. Those "range mags" will find a way into your kit as sure as Murphy's hand is on everything.
