    Default Speed Trap?

The route I take to work begins with a very wide, two lane road, medium/low density, all residential traffic. It's labeled at 35, and I routinely do 44, 9 miles over the limit.

Aurora has just put up a speed thing, which tells you how fast you are going (I know how fast I am going), in both directions.

I notice as I go by that a "blue light" is flashing. Is it taking my picture? Am I gonna get like 10 speeding tickets in a row?

I looked harder at it today when I drove by, and it is relatively thick, for a device that just measures and displays speed. Pretty easy for a camera to be in there too.

Should I camouflage myself by wearing a mask as I drive by?

Or is it as I expect it to be, a deterrent?

What pisses me off royally, is that this is the perfect road to drive in to work. My other option is to drive by an elementary school. Bitches.

I could also go out to the main road, but that is dangerous as heck.

    Thanks in advance.

If it's a speed trap, covering your face won't help. The ticket will be mailed to the address on the vehicle registration matching the plates.

The other option is to not speed.
There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.

    Seriously?

Why not just drive the speed limit?

They’re not going to send you tickets from that machine taking your picture. That’s the photo vans and stop lights, and they’re only legally enforceable when delivered to you in person...mailed isn’t technically enforceable, last I heard.

There is a third option. You could hitch up to it, and then since speed is relative to the observer, it would ignore you as a parked car. Bonus points: Make it think the cars you pass are speeding.

This is a new, permanent installation, which is why I am asking for help, as I may need to change my route, and I do not have good options.

I'm surprised (and disheartened) at all the "just go the speed limit" posts.

The blue flashy things are just there to scare you. I usually spot em and see how fast it will read in that short distance.

If you do get caught by a red light camera/speed camera/speed trap van, they will mail you a notification to pay. Don't. They may or may not attempt to serve you the ticket later (has to be within 90 days of violation). If a cop is knocking on your door soon after you get popped, don't answer.
After 90 days, they can't do jack.

My experience with speed and red light cameras is that you will see a bright white flash. (Just like a regular camera)

My wife got a payment notification for the red light camera off Vasquez in Commerce city. We ignored it. (It was her sister driving anyway)

If, somehow you are served with the ticket BY A LEO, you're on the hook.

If you are going to intentionally speed, be prepared to pay the fine.

Dont want to pay the fine, dont speed.
