Existing law prohibits a local government from enacting an ordinance or resolution that conflicts with state law regarding concealed carry of handguns. The bill permits a local government, including a special district, and governing board of an institution of higher education to enact an ordinance, resolution, rule, or other regulation that prohibits a permittee from carrying a concealed handgun in a building or specific area within the local government's or governing board's jurisdiction.

Say goodbye to any carry on any city, county or university owned properties- buildings, parks, open space, etc.

The whole bill is the biggest nightmare that we have faced in a long time. Hopefully, there are some sensible D's who will vote against this. Pre-emption has been our biggest friend on MANY, MANY fronts.

Say hello to local bans on ownership and possession of the firearm or component du jour.

This is a most serious challenge to our rights. Thanks for posting this .455_Hunter. The pre emption law certainly has saved us from the Balkanization of Colorado anti firearms regulations. Drive through another municipality? Get arrested for your otherwise constitutional carry. Pay attention to this everyone.

I live in the sponsor Fenberg's district, so I doubt there is much benefit in contacting my state senator.

I would like to see the justification for evisceration of almost two decade conceal carry program. Show me the vast number of violent crimes committed by permit holders.

This is a REAL threat to gun ownership in Colorado. ANY county or municipality could decide to ban ANY firearm they choose, just by vote of the city council or commissioners.

Also, forget about shooting safely on private property in unincorporated areas if your county officials don't like it.

This is so far beyond safe storage or red flag, it's not even funny.

It's also interesting that they somehow support "local control" in this area ONLY, and as long as it's MORE RESTRICTIVE.

How about local control on recreational possession of pot?

How about local control on abortion?

How about local control of other "civil rights"?

In this political climate, *having to use a CCW* is almost as likely to result in charges anyway. Those locations where they'd do the right thing and pat you on the back probably won't be passing much in the way of laws IAW their allowance.
