Default Interesting- Guy OCing a Shield in a Longmont Safeway this evening.

I popped over to get some quick groceries for my parents and saw something new...

A guy with FDE Shield in some sort of OWB Serpa push-button holster. I thought at first he had unintentionally exposed from a lifted sweatshirt, but it soon became pretty clear he wanted EVERYONE to have a view.

Not something you see too regularly in local stores. I am pretty big on the if you are going to OC, don't look like a douchebag, and this guy kinda gave me the douchebag vibe- about one step-up from somebody having a IWB clipped on the outside of their belt.

    Just my observations.

At least it had some retention in that holster.

Surprised people weren't screaming and running down the aisles.

There's a guy I'd see pretty frequently in the Windsor King Supers who open carried what I thought was an XD or M&P on one hip, and a bowie knife on the other. There were quite a few stares and furtive glances, mine included, and he mostly had every aisle to himself. Haven't seen him since the KS shooting, so I don't know if he suddenly developed a sense of discretion or just started shopping on different days than me.

People that open carry seem like they are making a statement of some sort. A guy open carrying a knife and a gun at the same has a statement that I'm sure I'm not interested in hearing.

Ditto - to me, open carry in public puts me at risk by exposing the fact that I am carrying which limits or removes my option to counter ambush. There are quite a few scared sheep out there who might call me to law enforcement in which at the low end would be a pain in the ass for me and for the officer, at worst, could get me into trouble with an LEO who isn't pro 2nd. I'd rather be stealth and avoid all the hassle.

I have been seeing lots more open carry up this way. 90% of the time they have a shitty holster that is flopping around.
    Don't be stupid!!!!!
