    I think I know the answer to this question, but is it considered racist to call a black person by any name of another black person, or does it have to be an insult? If he had said, "Hold on Denzel," would it have been the same thing? I assume so.

    If he was speaking to a black person, it was both stupid and rude. But I used to watch Our Gang as a kid and never thought the Buckwheat character was portrayed in any demeaning way. Buckwheat was just one of the gang.
