Default .243 Rem - Bullet weights in older platform rifle

I got a very helpful reply from @Hoser on my .222 question. Trying again with another cartridge.

I have an M77 Mark II - K77RVT (VBZ) chambered in .243 Rem, manufactured in 1997, with an old Weaver 8 60-B scope attached to it. That's an old Weaver scope, but it's functional. I'd like to load up some ammunition and give it a try at distance. It will either be a waste of time or it won't.

I have not yet measured the twist by hand and will have to do so after the kids are in bed tonight. I thought it was a 1:10, but google is giving me 3 answers; 1:9, 1:9.125, and 1:10. I am reasonably sure the 1:9 & 1/8 twist is a Remington thing and not relevant for my Ruger. It is Model 07886.

    It's this rifle:

Based on twist I think I am looking at using shorter bullets, I don't know that a 1:10 will properly stabilize longer match-grade bullets (if they'll even chamber). I don't know a lot about 6mm bullets, but I suppose most anything from 70 to 95 grains would probably shoot okay.

I understand I'm limited based on equipment, but it's paid for and gives me something to mess with. Suggestions on bullets/loading for longer range shooting in this old rifle?

    Thanks

    Never complain; never explain.
