    Default New Range

I've spent a few hours per day over the last 3 days working on the handgun portion of my our new range. It's 40-ish yards long. The berm's a little short but there's a hill behind it and nothing else for a mile except for the hill and thick trees. I'll eventually add another 40 yards from the rear of the current shooting spot for short range rifle shooting. Then the plan is to move back 200 yards and put in a spot for longer range rifle shooting.

I'll continue to add dirt to the berm as it settles and as I can find more dirt. It'll do nicely for now. I also want to put some gravel at the shooting line...mostly to keep the mud down.

First thing is to move target stands and a bench up there. Then it's time to shoot.

    Nice! I want a tractor!

How close are you to neighbors? Are they gonna freak out at gunshots? What about the county? Any regulations they could smack you with?

Closest neighbor is about 800' away from the range off to the left. There's a hill and a ton of trees between his house and the range. I've already talked to him and the only other neighbor. They're just fine with it.

I live in the county...no issues with shooting safely on your own property. Oklahoma is about as gun-friendly as a state gets.

    Very cool. We love ours.

    Everyone should live rural.

    So jealous!!!!!!!!

Wish I had property that I can shoot on. I can't complain to much I only live 12min from the gun club. Being able to Shoot in the back yard would probably put me in the poor house.

Nicely done (as I’d expect from you).

Heck yeah, that's the one feature at my house that I love the most, my own shooting range. Good work and congrats. It's a perk that you will come to appreciate every time you use it.
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.

Got to enjoy it a little bit yesterday...even if it was a little hot out. One thing I found that's kinda convenient... I can hang yard markers on the t-posts of the fence on the right side.

I'm gonna try to put short lengths of PVC pipe into the ground to hold 1x2s for stapling targets to. I don't know if it'll work or not...wondering if they'll get filled with dirt. We'll see. Also, gravel would really be nice. There's just no easy way to get truck loads of gravel up there. So I'll have to figure out a way to do that. At least for the shooting line area.
