Default 3 New CO Guns Signed into Law

    https://www.reporterherald.com/2021/...lder-shooting/

In the past seven years , Colorado instituted one new gun law. Lawmakers passed six times that amount in one legislative session, and on Saturday, Gov. Jared Polis signed three of the bills into law.
These bills were announced after?the mass shooting at King Soopers in Boulder?on March 22, when 10 people were killed.
But, said Boulder Rep. Judy Amabile at the bill signing event, ?It isn?t just about mass shootings.
?It?s about what we sadly call everyday gun violence,? said Amabile, a sponsor of one of the bills. ?Every day people are dying all across our state from homicides, from accidents, from mass shootings and mostly from suicide.?

This year Polis signed?two other bills,?setting regulations for safe storage of guns in homes and requirements for reporting lost or stolen firearms.?One other gun bill, meant to keep firearms out of the hands of domestic abusers, awaits the governor?s signature.
Here?s a brief look at the three that were signed Saturday. They are set to take effect immediately.

    Expanded background checks (HB21-1298)

What it does:?You can no longer buy a gun without a completed background check (a person who sells one before it?s complete could face a Class 1 misdemeanor charge); the list of people who are not legally allowed to get guns for five years now includes following violent misdemeanors: third-degree assault, sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, child abuse, violation of a protection order, a crime against an at-risk person, harassment, a bias-motivated crime, cruelty to animals, possession of an illegal weapon and unlawfully providing a firearm other than a handgun to a juvenile.

Local control of gun regulations (SB21-256)

What it does:?This reverses a ban that keeps local governments (towns, cities and counties) from creating their own gun regulations. But local jurisdictions can only make ordinances that are stricter, not more lenient, than state law. Any regulations currently in place that are less restrictive are effectively overturned. A person can only face a criminal penalty for violating local laws if they knew about them or reasonably should have known. The new law also puts concealed-carry requirements back in the hands of the state so they?re consistent, but it does allow local governments to decide where those guns can be carried.

The Office of Gun Violence Prevention (HB21-1299)

What it does:?About $3 million will go to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment for the first year to create the?state?s first Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which will be tasked with coordinating and promoting efforts to reduce gun violence, including providing training and public awareness campaigns. The office can also provide grants to community organizations working on the issue, especially those working with high-risk communities.

Want to place any bets on whether most larger municipalities will have non-grandfathering assault weapon and mag bans, plus de facto CCW bans by Dec 31?

It will be a race for the bottom. With cities trying to out do themselves with the virtue signaling.

We need SCOTUS decisions that are clear and unequivocal about the striking down these laws.

Colorado is going full California stupid at in increasing rate. We are already looking at getting out of here.

This motherfucker was lost in 2012. After spending 3 days in the Judicial chambers watching the dog and pony show over the mag ban and other bills…. I realized that one vote didn’t matter, your voice doesn’t matter and to have a Limey import motherfucker into this state tell me that “I am not recognized” in the chambers of the Capitol of my native state?
Yeah, stick a fork in it

It's been a treat, fellow firearms enthusiasts.

My ass will most likely be exiting this AO.

I will no longer be watching or paying attention to the local news. The only law that matters is the 2nd. This laws has made ignorance of local laws an acceptable excuse.

We are not required to be layers and pay attention to laws that arbitrarily change.

This means ANY complaint[s] about a person being "harassed" . The person who the complaint is levied against , can lose their gun rights.

While it was later than planned, we got out of there before the d's took total control.

My wife is a little to complacent about the guns versus her when it comes to where I domicile…. I’d think she’d at least act a little worried.

About time to Daniel Boone this bitch and head for the promised land of Ken-tuck-eee.

These pro2A sheriffs need to find a way to deputize us so that we can local Po-po to shove it.

Kind of crappy that he let this run hot too. It is the law now. No implemention period. I haven’t seen anything for Denver in their planned meetings, yet- but you do know that they’ll act on CCW right away and then go after AWB when they see what smaller places do.

There were 6 laws right? What three hasn’t he signed.

That list looks a lot worse than the 7 gun laws signed in TX.
Texas House Bill 1927 authorizes Constitutional Carry in Texas, meaning law-abiding Texans can legally carry a handgun without a license to carry. This makes Texas the 21st constitutional carry state. The other 20 states are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Texas House Bill 957 repeals the criminal offense of possessing, manufacturing, transporting or repairing a firearm silencer. It also ensures that any firearm suppressor manufactured in Texas, and that remains in Texas, will not be subject to federal law or federal regulation.

Texas House Bill 2622 makes Texas a Second Amendment Sanctuary State by protecting Texans from new federal gun control regulations.

Texas Senate Bill 20 allows guests to store firearms in their hotel rooms.

Texas Senate Bill 19 prohibits any governmental entity from contracting with any business that discriminates against firearm and ammunition businesses or organizations.

Texas Senate Bill 550 removes the shoulder or belt holster requirements, allowing Texans to carry firearms in whatever kind of holster they choose.

Texas House Bill 1500 prevents any government entity from prohibiting the sale or transportation of firearms or ammunition during a declared disaster or emergency.
AZ is also high on the list.
