So I got an a request to fill out an application for a "Drainage Tech" From SWSA. Anyone know what that job entails? I have no clue. hah Been working in the oilfield for the last 21 years. Pay is okay, but I can't find any decent description of what the actual job entails.

SEMSWA has an immediate opening for a full-time, non-exempt Drainage Technician position. This position performs manual labor, operates a variety of construction and maintenance equipment, and assists in inspection, maintenance, and construction of the stormwater system. A Class “A” Colorado driver’s license is preferred for this position. This position may require availability as an On-Call Employee to work outside of SEMSWA’s normal office hours on a rotating schedule.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operates and maintains light equipment including, but not limited to skid steer loader, backhoe, and compactor.
• Operates and maintains power tools including but not limited to mower, trimmer, chainsaw, and a variety of hand tools.  Operates and maintains all equipment used in trench work for both excavating and back filling and equipment used for cleaning and clearing storm sewer lines.
• Drives and assists with the operation of the vacuum truck for potholing, maintenance, and cleaning.
Key Competencies:
 Knowledge of, or ability to learn Arapahoe County, City of Centennial, and water district maps, and County/Centennial roadway network.  Knowledge of storm water collection systems and tools, equipment, materials used to maintain and repair system.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read, interpret, and apply general procedures to specific work applications.
• Ability to effectively serve customers requesting assistance on stormwater related issues, and to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with occasionally hostile customers.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Qualifications Necessary:
• Possession of a commercial, Class ‘A’ Colorado driver’s license is preferred.
• A satisfactory driving record is required.
• General experience in construction, drainage system maintenance, or erosion control is desirable.
Salary and Benefits:
• $21.81/hour to $29.51/hour

*probably not a bad gig, after 24 years of State employment I can say if your going to punch a clock, State or municipality ain’t a bad way to go. Certainly safer and steadier than oil patch I would think.
Heavy rains would likely get you a call out to clear drains, grates and ditches.

Yeah BP. A steady paycheck would be nice right now. I am third-generation oilfield and it is often boom or bust. Depending on who is leading the Country. Pay is less than half what I was making. But decent benefits and won't be on the road living out of hotels or man camps.

Yeah Irving. I was kind of hoping for someone with real experience. That is why I asked on a local forum, close to the job. Doesn't really matter what it entails. A job is a job at this point. I am just trying to avoid an office gig. I don't care for the petty politics and cubicles. Most likely will go back to the patch when I can.

Think it was Channel 9 News reporting on the shortage of fuel at the gas station pumps due to a shortage of delivery drivers.
Their report said that drivers were earning up to 6 figures a year.
Dang, I still have a Class A with Tanker Endorsement CDL.
Ya think they'll let me drive a few hours a day in my 70's now that I like a nap in the afternoon?
