    Default I hate fireworks

I'm at work tonight and we had a phone call at the station for a false alarm fire call. After laying back down for a few minutes, some a$$hole set off an aerial firework next to the fire station. I hit the floor yelling at my captain "gunshots." I called PD to inform them, when the second went off I was able to tell them it was fireworks and not gunshots. The first one sure made me think it was a shotgun going off next to the wall where my bed is. Needless to say, I'm up for the test of the day. F**KING A$$HOLES!

I can certainly understand the frustration. I like fireworks, and I like setting them off...but it's been so many years since it's been safe to do so it's not fun anymore.

Leave it to the pros to put on a good show for ya, our town canceled due to dry conditions. Perhaps the next town south will still have one this year.

I've always loved fireworks, but this is the 1st time I've had a dog that was absolutely terrified of them. He's such a sweet boy, it's heartbreaking to see him so scared. Thinking of taking him out to the range clubhouse on the 4th to hang out and watch TV all night.

There is a time and place for them. My boys love to go watch them. 0350 in the morning next door to the fire station is neither the time nor the place.

I was driving south on Huron St. yesterday and there's 1 of those lit up signs "Fireworks-against the law". That should take care of the problem

I love fireworks but don't launch any myself. The risk of fines is enough to deter me. I really don't mind when people launch them around the area as long as they're doing it safely and not when fire danger is high. 1.5" of rain last night sure helps. Sucks they woke you up. Especially with your job. Launching them late is just plain rude.

But I have to be honest with you, fireworks don't sound like shotguns. That's awfully dramatic.

I was woken up at 10:45pm the other night by some aerial fireworks right over the house. 10:45 is too late for that. But I most certainly didn't hit the deck. A simple mumble "ugh, it's too late assholes" seemed like a reasonable reaction.

It does suck when doggies get scared too, but that can be avoided. People train their dogs to sit, stay, heal, come, play dead, fetch...it's not any harder to also train them not to be scared of loud noises. That really should be part of every dog's training, gun dog or not.

I'd love to know how to do that! I know dogs can be trained all kinds of things, even detecting blood sugar problems in diabetics, cancers, blood pressure problems, etc. But I can't train 'em to shit outside.....

And I swear, there's people in my neighborhood that must spend THOUSANDS of dollars up in Cheyenne on fireworks! Many times I've sat on the patio and watched them all around the house in every direction.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. But I'd be happy to share how I've done it if you're serious. If the dog is already scared, you have to take it VERY slow. If the dog isn't already scared, it's easier but can't be done too fast or else you risk making them scared.
