I love fireworks but don't launch any myself. The risk of fines is enough to deter me. I really don't mind when people launch them around the area as long as they're doing it safely and not when fire danger is high. 1.5" of rain last night sure helps. Sucks they woke you up. Especially with your job. Launching them late is just plain rude.

But I have to be honest with you, fireworks don't sound like shotguns. That's awfully dramatic.

I was woken up at 10:45pm the other night by some aerial fireworks right over the house. 10:45 is too late for that. But I most certainly didn't hit the deck. A simple mumble "ugh, it's too late assholes" seemed like a reasonable reaction.

It does suck when doggies get scared too, but that can be avoided. People train their dogs to sit, stay, heal, come, play dead, fetch...it's not any harder to also train them not to be scared of loud noises. That really should be part of every dog's training, gun dog or not.
