Default Ft. Worth Texas Fatal Road Rage Incident

    Article:

    https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/...-other-driver/

Colorado, same as Texas, also has laws prohibiting "lane splitting" by motorcycles. However, the driver of the motorcycle in this particular case played 2 stupid games and it cost him the ultimate price. As a motorcyclist, I don't like it when bikers "lane split", for the simple fact that it is very dangerous to do. Especially in a state where it is not common practice - or legal. I'm guessing the 19 year-old driving the motorcycle was open-carrying due to his age. Young, cocky, arrogant...bought him a dirt nap. Sad deal. Be safe out there folks and remember, anger is just one letter away from danger.

It's getting more common here. Not just the highways but local road where bikes split to get to the front of a que at red light.

One sport bike came a few inches from my bumper on the i25 to i70 ramp weaving between lanes with a few others. I didn't break to allow a larger gap pinning those following him in thier lane. I could see thier irritation being held up.

I am also a driver who doesn't center my car in the lane to stay out of the ruts and cracks. Most cars don't feel the ruts but wider sticky tires makes it feel like a slot car track. Also allows to see further up past the car in front of me. Had a few bike run up on me and getting stuck flipping me off and trying to wave me over. I just ignore them by noth responding. And this is at the covid 15+mph over limit normal.

Dumbass doing something illegal then gets pissed when HIS unsafe actions almost caused him to wreck - then takes it to the next level. Stupid is as stupid does. Too bad he had to die to learn his lesson.

Lane splitting is dumb. The fact that your air-cooled motorcycle overheats when not rolling is not anybody else's problem. Get a different bike if you need to travel in traffic.

In the Fox4 and linked article it describes the motorcyclist as the one who caused the road rage incident as the victim. In what world is a perpetrator termed a victim?

Lane splitting is extremely dangerous for both the motorcyclist and auto/truck drivers. High risk and liability for all. In my opinion the laws that allow it are designed to kill motorcyclists.

I watch youtube videos of all sorts, including motorcycle racing and, occasionally, crashes.

In many cases where a motorcyclist and vehicle collide, the top two root causes are excessive speed and reckless driving (overconfidence, adrenaline, etc..).

Old age has taught me the advantages of de-escalation.

Dead 19 year old guy = child victim of gun violence.

Get out of here with your logic.

Gun manufacturers brainwashed him into buying a gun. They should be sued for that.

BTW I'm another motorcyclist (started riding in 1982) who has zero interest in lane splitting. On motorcycle boards it's taken as an article of faith that lane splitting is "safer for motorcyclists" but that makes zero sense to me. AFAIK California is the only state where lane splitting is legal in the US.

He definitely "doubled down" on stupidity. The only victims in this case (IMO) are the decedent's family and the shooter's wife and kids who had to witness it.
