I have had a hand full of 357mag revolvers over the years. I always thought that 357 was a pussy round and sold them off because I was looking for more bang/power. Approx 6 months back I got a itch to get a new handgun since I've been reloading and ended up with a 7in 686+. Now that I reload 357 is a whole nother animal, full tilt h110, 2400 loads are something very special that everyone should experience. A 125gr xtp over 22gr of h110 has left everyone that has shot it with a smile from ear to ear, the best reaction was my 16 year old son. I have had 44mag revolvers and shot lots of big handguns over the years but none compare to the fun and satisfying feeling 357 leaves you with. Every new 357 load I work up continues to impress. If you haven?t tried the 357 out of a carbine you should. Surprising what a longer barrel and no cylinder gap can do for velocity. Plus, just like the revolvers you can do everything from popcorn fart 38?s to full blown hotrod rounds.

I bought my first 357 a couple years ago. I wondered why I waited so long. I have shot a couple carbines and really like those too. Between revolvers with four inch barrels and carbines with 20 inch barrels, loading gates, and almost ten round capacity, there is lots of versatility.

I became the owner of a .357 on my 21st B-day. Went to DL office, hit the LGS that had a used Service-Six on-hold for me @ $180, then went to my favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner and a legal margarita. It was a good day!

Yup, .357s rock. I have my late father's no dash 686 he bought new in 1981, Sept. 7 to be exact. I want to get a lever gun in .357 to match it. This will eventually go to my older son, he has kids so hoping it'll stay in the family for a loooong time.

I have a 686 I bought in the '80s as a sidearm for a security job. First gun I ever bought for myself. I don't plan to ever sell it.

357 is no whimp. I remember being at a range with a guy next to me shooting a 44 Mag. I thought the 357 had the louder shockwave. Could have been the Winchester Silvertips I was shooting at the time. I will never forget the smell of ammonia in the air when I shot those.

Or the rattling of the shields between the lanes of the range.

Or the flames shooting out to the sides and out the muzzle.

I really do want to find a lever gun to go with it at some point...and probably another revolver or 3.

We filled about a dozen gallon milk jugs with water and shot them with various handguns once. The 357 with hollow points totally obliterated the jug. The explosion of plastic and water was impressive. More so than anything we shot with a 9mm, 40, or 45. Fun times.
