Default Vudoo 360 should be here tomorrow

Ordered a Vudoo 360 from Mile High yesterday. Ought to arrive at my FFL tomorrow. I?m pretty excited. I love my old 40X repeater conversion, but I?m looking forward to rock solid feeding and extraction. My 40x hammers (Lila barrel is superb), but it would let me down from time to time in prs style matches. Can?t decide what to do with the 40x. Probably keep it for belly matches or the kids.

So, if I?m shooting a Vudoo, am I still in the 40x mafia?

Your going to love your 360. Such a nice solid rimfire.

Well you were one of the founding members of the 40X mafia so I would assume you are still in the family.

I have also kept my 40X repeaters. They are my loaner guns.

Good for you, guy down here has the Ravage model.
He asked if i'd like to run a mag through it. The only thing that kept me from impulse buying one was, the price. Other than that, they're damn fine rifles and very accurate.

    How is it shooting?

My 40X gets a bit persnickety on feeding when in my AICS chassis, but the ACC chassis holds the mags tighter and in a better position- but the mags are in TIGHT. I?m spinning up a CZ457 with a 1x9 Lilja barrel for long range stuff. With the feeding issues, I was thinking about taking the old 40X stock, freshening it up, and cutting it for a badger bottom metal to take mags. Make a nice looking heavy 22lr out of it. thoughts on that, do I have the concept right?

Double check that the badger will hold voodoo mags. The two badger DBM M5 pattern bottom metals I tested with Paul at MHSA dropped right through with no engagement of the release lever at all. That is why I went with Hawkins DBM metal.

What kind of stock did you put this into? Thanks for the insights

I can’t comment on your question. No experience with badger and Vudoo or AI mags.

The new Vudoo is shooting great. I’d estimate the barrel on it shoots most any type of ammo into groups about half the size of those from my Lila barreled 40x. I broke the bolt stop on it at the first match I took it to. Looked like a MIM part. They sent me a tool steel version as a replacement. Just showed up yesterday. Good customer service.

I’ve been struggling to decide what to do with my 40x. If money were no object I’d probably send it back to Modacam to rebarrel it and have him tune up the extractors and then build it up into a complete rifle again. It’s currently in the safe as a barreled action. Not sure I need a sixth .22 trainer, but it’s got a little sentimental value. Decisions, decisions.

    What barrel didn’t shoot well?

I’ve always felt that my 40x was ‘cross eyed’ in that rail and bore were not pointed in the same direction, so if zero’d at 50, it would print left at 200. Plus, if left for more than a few minutes, the first shot was low in MV, even with CX ammo. Between those two, it gave me enough head trash not to trust it for comps. Now, it might be that I’m really bad at reading wind, but the first shot thing happened enough with long range shots and LabRadar data that I believed it.

I have a Lilja1-9/CZ457 that I’m working up that seems to have the potential to not be a nail driver. Looking to work it up some more this week. If the 40X becomes a show piece and plinker, I’m fine with that.
