Just shut up and sell to everyone who wants your coffee. Doesn't he know how to make money?

Racist have money. Leftist have money. Right wingers have money. Everyone else has money. Take it all and get rich. Does it matter who buys it?

    Go woke go broke.

The thing is, just like with Chick-Fil-A, if you're going to put your right of center political position out there and use it as a marketing tool and then yank it back when you get pushback from the left, you're cutting your own throat because conservatives tend to be extremely brand loyal until they aren't. Yet leftists are fickle, and will turn on you in a moment (and then never forgive).

If you're going to use politics for your marketing then you damn well better stick with it (especially when your product isn't actually anything special ... BRC coffee isn't bad, but its not really any better than any of the other myriad small "better than Folgers" coffee companies out there), otherwise just sell your product on its merits and let the chips land where they may.

Side note, I don't trust the NYT to tell the truth about them so either he's trying to curry favor with the left out of fear or they're lying about him doing so to harm his reputation with conservatives.

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

    Not exactly accurate.

The company never promoted itself as right of center or anti-gay. The owner and then his son have been very upfront about their baptist beliefs. They have personally donated to like minded charities.

Militant leftist on their inexhaustible search for things to be upset about, latched onto this and condemned the corporation for the thoughts and actions of the owners.

A small difference, but different nonetheless.

The company used to donate to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes but stopped over the woke backlash. Dan Cathy, the son, continues to donate to christian causes but does so out of his own, likely very deep, pockets.

However, I absolutely agree with the philosophy that in business, there is only one color that matters- green! So keep your politics out of it and open the cash register.

Its more than just FCA, they also dumped the Salvation Army, claiming they wanted to focus more on "homeless charities" (SA is probably the biggest homeless charity on the planet) and they replaced them with the pro-LGBT Covenant House (who's primary mission is taking care of gay runaways). This was purely done to curry favor with the woke.

Then they also started giving money to SPLC. As far as I'm concerned, that is no different than giving to the KKK.

So Cathy Jr sold out the principles he claimed in order to get some of the LGBT mafia heat off his back (which has failed) and 2 to get into more European markets that wouldn't let them in because they were "anti-LGBT".

The point is, CFA and BRCC stopped "dancing with the one that brung 'em" the instant they got some backlash from the woke people. Not a smart business plan.

Its actually not a bad strategy if you believe you can gain a market advantage by espousing a political/religious/cultural position ... but once you go down that road its a one-way trip.
