    Default G10 1911 grips?

I'm debating switching out the rosewood for G10 grips on my Officers 1911. I've started carrying it again recently and the rosewood is looking a little rough. I like the G10's that are on my Ed Brown, and think a set on the Colt Officers would be nice.

There's a fairly large price difference on G10 grips. Does anyone have enough experience to be able to say that one brand is decidedly better than another? Is a set of $80 Nighthawks actually better than a $20 set from CoolHand gear (or whomever)?

I?ve always used VZ grips so I can?t comment on others but I really like the VZ?s. Depending on which model you get the texture can be anything from barely noticeable to cheese grater and everywhere in between.

If I can lay eyes on or handle the merchandise before I buy, then I personally don't care if the grips have a name brand logo on them. The danger in buying sight unseen is you get one grip that looks different than the other (particularly true of g10 two-color laminates). When you go with a big name like VZ, their quality control probably makes this less likely.

That's a good point, and I think answers the question. I think I will go with either VZ or the Hogue G-Mascus line.

Not sure if there?s a look you?re going for but the black cherry (I think) grips from VZ can almost pass for wood grips. I?ve got a couple of sets and if you like the classic look of wood you might check into them.

Hogue doesn't offer a grip panel that doesn't have an Ambi safety cut-out. I'm not sure that I care, but it would be nice to not have the notch there. VZ looks like a good option.

Those are slick. It would be a good color on a blued Colt Officers.

Consider a cheap set of Mag pull 1911 grips. I used them for several competition based pistols. No regrets.

Thanks for bringing this up again as I missed it the first time around. I never even thought of G10 grips for a revolver. I like those. Might have to score some for my 686.

I like them on everything. Way more durable and utilitarian than wood and I hate rubber grips. Now if only I could find a way to get some sweet G10?s onto a Glock.
