Default Any other nerds here flying RC aircraft?

I did it a lot years ago. Just started back up again to try to get my kids interested in something that doesn't have a screen.

Got them out last Sunday for a flight each on an EPP trainer I built for them. Fortunately I had them on a buddy box, so we went home with an intact model. I've been out of the loop for so long I don't know anyone local anymore.

I've got a few. Only one that technically flies at this point is my homemade quadcopter, but the BEC that operates the landing gear is partially unplugged inside and requires removal of about 20 screws to fix.
The planes are incomplete for the most part, and I don't have time at the moment.

Did it with gliders some 40 years ago. Tried tethered for a few months too. I always wanted to try powered flight but not in my budget right now. I wish you the best with your sons, great idea.

I used to fly a lot but no only a few times a year. There some really nice new models that recently came out. The stabilization software is amazing.

I have this one and it is a blast.

This is the larger model just released.

I really want one of these.

Not planes or flyables but I have a couple of Nitro rc cars. They have been collecting dust for a few years because I didn't really have any experience in rc's like you should, esp with Nitro and I also live in high altitude so it was hard enough just trying to adjust and stabilize the air/fuel ratio. Without knowing any others that did it (besides an old neighbor that was a mean old jackass about it after I started asking too many questions about it), not knowing much myself, and not being able to find info to get better at it, I ended up putting them away in a box and haven't messed with em since. $1k or so total setup that I would love to continue but like I said idk what I'm doing nor do I know anybody that does. I would love to meet ppl that do know a bit about it and even learn to get better (hence why I am posting here now). I hope you don't mind my asking if there's any RC car nuts around....I would love to get back into it. Thanks for listening!!

I had a few R/C planes - I was quite able to re-kit them back into 2x the number of parts that I started with. Today I mostly dig out the itty bitty indoor quad to fly around the house.

I did try my hand at No control r/c cars...when one of the small airplanes I had was totaled; I made a small car and mounted it. In that configuration I got lots and lots of fun out of it playing with it in a large parking lot. When that car it max speed, it would spin out and shoot off in a different direction.

Not sure if this link will be useful; but there are a few r/c car tracks out there...

I fly a little electric glider when I have some time. Radian UMX. Highly recommend it if you just want to fly slow and not think about it too much.

I've always wanted to do the same. I considered mounting an airsoft gun on the drone to chase my buddy's preteens with
