This story has dropped out of the news cycle here. I thought it was interesting that it was picked up so far away.

Most likely dead. Even if it wasn't meathead, Highway 191 is a major north-south for traffic that wants to avoid the interstates and mountains. No telling where an attractive woman could end up if hitchhiking along that route. If she stormed off while camping thinking could find her way around, it's not likely she knew her way around desert canyons and the rock and water hazards they contain.
