    Default Firearm Values/Bluebook

    Good morning all!

Curious what everyone uses for bluebook valuation of used guns? Gunbroker doesn?t seem to have or allow you to look at closed sales. Armslist is terrible to navigate, and now pay-to-play. Most websites want money to access, and no guarantees of accurate/current pricing. Looking for something to gauge the value of used guns when hitting the local pawnshops.

Is there a spot to check prices of used guns I?m not aware of? Let me know, and thank you in advance.

Unless it’s changed in the last couple of weeks, you can check prices guns sold for on GB using the advanced search as long as you have a Gunbroker account.

sroz has the best suggestion. I feel the Blue Book is woefully outdated. If you don’t want to join gb I’d gladly look something up for you at the end of the day, shoot me a pm with details.

By the time a dead-tree book has been published, its numbers are worthless except for the oddest and rarest, that only change hands at auction every five to fifteen years.

Months-old or more recent online auction numbers are about as good as you can get, unless you yourself are an active seller in the market segment.

I have been using the Blue Book of Gun Values for 20 years, refreshing every other year. I don’t always pay attention to it …

I agree. It's got far more than pricing. It's often helpful in identifying a particular model of a gun with the descriptions. I haven't bought one in several years, though.

The values are obsolete before they are printed. Some areas of the country value handguns or longguns more than other areas the book uses a broad based average. Gun shows used to be the best way to see current pricing.

I will take a look at Gunbroker again, see if my settings are off.

Gun shows are tough when it feels like the bid/ask are so far off. Anything modern is easy to check online, but older items seem to vary with no consistency.

    Thank you for the suggestions!
