I did keto for about 3 weeks and just about 15-18 pounds. I went off keto and started drinking again and gained at least 5lbs back in a week or two.

My buddy has been on keto for four years. He dropped 100 pounds and has kept it off.
I looked into it, not for weight loss but to keep the arthritis at bay. It is supposed to be good for fighting inflammation.
Not for me. Seems to go against what little I know about nutrition, as in, eat a balanced diet. I could never give up fruit. Potatoes and pasta, maybe.
The thing that stood out about keto is the fanaticism of its adherents. It seems cultish, kind of like Scientology. I am afraid if I try it and do it wrong or don't stick with it, my dog will be kidnapped.
That's the thing. A lot of bad nutrition advice out there. I don't think I ever actually got into ketosis either. You don't have to give up fruit or vegetables either. Just cutting out processed foods and straight carbs like sugar and bread is a tremendous bread. Totally understand the feeling of people being zealots about it. Alternatively, if you were doing something that actually worked as advertised, how could you not be adamant about it?
