    Default 6.8x43mm Remington SPC round

I noticed in another thread, there are a lot of 6.8mm lovers on here. I am about to get out of mine as I really have lost the luster for it.

The only real reason I havnt traded it off yet is because it was after all my very first AR. Oh well.

How many 6.8 lovers are here?

I will definatly if the trade I am working on does not include the ammo as I want this PTR91 badly and can not justify all I have for trade for just the rifle.

I'm a pretty big 6.8 fan. My first AR was also a 6.8, custom build upper from Harrison down at AR Performance in Pueblo. He is one of the guys who is largely responsible for the success of the 6.8 so far. He helped engineer the Spec II chamber and he was the engineer and developer of the DMR and DMR-C chambers. With the DMR-C, you can push an 85 gr barnes bullet out of a 10.5 inch barrel at 3100 fps, all while shooting sub-MOA. I can't think of any other affordable AR platform that can do that. The only problem with 6.8 is that it is such a specialized round. The 6.8 was engineered to be most successful out of an SBR and it does a great job of tearing up flesh of medium sided critters (of the four-legged and two-legged type). Hell I've even seen pictures of black bears and elk taken with the 6.8 that were dropped in their tracks. There's no doubt about it: the 6.8x43 is an awesome round, but at $0.81 per round, it's just too darn expensive to plink around with. That's the only reason I own a 5.56 AR.

What sort of ammo are you looking to get rid of? If you have any Silver State ammo that's been stored in good condition, I might be willing to pay retail price (according to their website) for it.

Actually I had nothing to do with the SPCII chamber, I designed the DMR as a match chamber and to correct a sharp 80 degree edge at the case neck to throat junction in the SPCII chamber that can shave copper from the jacket of the bullet as it enters the chamber.
We have enlarged that chamber to add more taper in the case for better extraction and allow the use of some ammo that slightly over spec. that chamber is the "6.8x43", dropping the Remington name.

As for the other rumors floating around the 6.8x43 chamber, it is just the generic name for better chambers that have a .100 throat and will handle higher pressures.

I'm a fan! What are the specs for your gun+ammo? I may be interested. What price do you think you'd like to get for it?
