A lot of the employees who claim they "successfully work from home" also know the truth that they are not nearly as productive as they are at work.

Put activity tracking software on work computers that are taken home. Compare what is done in the office and what is done at home.

"It's always interesting to find out about how people really spent their time?and not what they tell their bosses, family and friends.

At the early onset of the outbreak, we learned that there was a lot of alcohol consumption, eating, pot smoking and watching porn, while quarantined.

About a year later, a study showed that people working from home are having sex, taking naps, dating, shopping online and doing side hustles on company time. Around 50% of the respondents to the survey said that they?ve worked for another company, while on the clock with their employer. "

"How To Set Low Expectations At Your Two Remote Jobs

What I?ve learned is expectations need to be set from day 1. I once worked with a new senior manager who always left at five o?clock since his very first day. New hires usually stay late to ramp up quickly. Not this guy. He set the expectation that he would leave the office by five and stuck by it every day. It was genius. A year into the job, he?s still shutting down at five while the rest of us kept working.

For managers, it?s typically hard to have that conversation, ?can you put in more hours?? If your manager adds new tasks, just be clear you cannot complete them in the timeframe given. If you?re labeled as the ?guy who leaves at five,? people won?t give you more work knowing you can?t get to it. "

I don?t doubt that but my wife must be the exception. On the days that I am home and she is working at the house she is fiddling with spreadsheets and emails and making phone calls from eight in the morning until five with only a brief break for lunch.

I bet she works more in a day from home than I do when I?m physically at my place of work.

And not once have I had sex with her while she was on the clock.

The problem with that kind of "analysis" is that it presumes that people can only screw off and not work when they are at home and that they are 100% productive when in the office.

Anyone who's ever actually worked in an office knows that's not true. People have plenty of opportunities to screw off and not do their work while they are in the office, too. It may not be as obvious but it happens a lot.
