Moving...again

We've been moved in and working non-stop on the new place for a little over 2 months. Absolutely love it here. It's quiet and peaceful and we are thrilled with the property. Just about ready to start a little hobby farm with some goats, chickens, guineas and contemplating a cow or two. I'm just not sure I could eat my own cow...it would be like eating my dog. I know I'd get attached to them.

Here's the before and after of the kitchen/dining room remodel. Almost finished...just waiting for the moulding board (on order) to finish above the cabinets and we're trying to decide what type of light fixture we want above the island. We did everything ourselves except for the countertop install.

ETA: Also need to run a gas line so I can get rid of that damn electric range.

It is hard when they act like puppies as well. This is our bull getting his scratch behind the ear. They are still delicious though.

My buddy nicknamed all his cattle and they were so famous they got their names in the (butcher) paper. LOL

A bunch of my family is in eastern OK.
As to medium and large dogs chasing livestock Okies don't practice the SSS method. In OK they shoot your dog in their pasture. Then call you on the phone to come get your own dog.

My neighbor knows all about my dogs in his pasture and how closely I supervise them. They don't "chase" his cattle. It's not an issue between him and me just like it's not an issue when his little dogs come over here. But thanks for the concern.

Everyone is fleeing to OK. I forgot, my Sister moved there a couple years ago. My Mom moved to OK last month.

I'd never lived here before. I was just attracted by the cost of living. Turns out, I really liked SW Oklahoma and I like this area even more (slightly east part of the south-central area of the state). I suspect it's not like anything most people picture in their minds when someone says "Oklahoma". Just like when someone hears "Colorado" they immediately think of the grand mountain vistas. They don't seem to realize Colorado has it's share of prairie, high desert and other areas besides the beautiful mountains.

Ya know, I was b&r in Enid, OK, but I can't say I've explored much of the state - shamefully. But there are some AWESOME museums in the state. I highly recommend -
JM Davis Arms & Historical Museum in Claremore
45th Infantry Museum in OKC
WOOLAROC Museum in Bartlesville
Will Rogers Museum in Claremore
Oklahoma Firefighters Museum in OKC
Pawnee Bill Ranch & Museum in Pawnee

And so many more, there's 250 museums in the state. But as a gun lover, the JM Davis and 45th Infantry are top-tier must-sees. WOOLAROC ain't no slouch either.
